![]() There are people out there who post video walkthroughs about how to install a number of mods at once. Mod X requires mod Y which requires mod Z, which ALSO requires mod A and B but NOT mod C, because the developers of mod C and mod X have some kind of bullshit internet feud going on and they're actively working against each other in some ridiculously passive-aggressive way. And this isn't so much a request for help in getting it to work - I'm entirely serious about it not being worth it - as it is a warning to let others know what they're getting into.) And yes, I installed ModLoader and AudioMod they worked fine, or at least didn't cause a crash. ![]() (Because people will inevitably ask: The mod I was trying to install was Weeping Angels. So unless you want to wade hip deep into the morass at the intersection of professional software developer and hobbyist and bang your head against poorly-documented frustration until you forget high school algebra, my recommendation is to stay the fuck away from modding Minecraft like it was your psycho ex-girlfriend who just called you out of the blue after getting out of "another drama-filled relationship". I'm not saying it's not out there somewhere, but I haven't run into it, and it's certainly not where it needs to be: In the actual goddamn guides for doing this shit that is their initial point of entry to the entire mess. I expect a community of people who are used to such complications speaking in shorthand to each other, but in my searches I haven't found a trace of concern for the mass of newbies. The lessons I've outlined in the above paragraph were only learned after hours of googling and piecing together vague, offhand and incomplete statements by forum posters. Everyone just expects every newcomer to somehow KNOW all of this coming in. No, the worst of it is that NO ONE EVER BOTHERS TO EXPLAIN ANY OF THIS BULLSHIT UP FRONT. Neither can I find out where or how to download beta versions that are sometimes compatible with mods. If you're already updated past the latest version the mod is compatible with, I don't know what the hell you're supposed to do I can't find anywhere to download older releases that aren't about as sketchy as a cab driver who smells of chloroform. And I have concluded that it is not even remotely fucking worth it.įinding the right intersection of mod version and game version is an epic pain in the ass.
